Evernew’s frying pan comes through on all counts, and can pull double duty as a lid for my cookpot, or as a shallow double boiler. I slap a little butter (or ghee, which is more shelf-stable) and a side of freshly-caught trout in this pan and get a great result without breaking any backcountry fire regulations. The nonstick coating is a silicon-ceramic variety, and I experienced little stickage on a 7-night outing in Wyoming’s Wind Rivers. (Note: as with all titanium cookware heat dispersion is not great so be diligent while frying).
Overall, the theme of the trip was “fast and light,” and our backpacks followed suit. Our gear was skimmed to the very essentials for the climb. Boil your water to purify it and drink it out of the pot you boiled it in. Heat up your coffee. Cook your dinner in it, give it a rinse, and finish with a sip of whiskey. Everything tastes better in the outdoors and the fact that it’s made completely out of titanium means it won’t leach any unwanted chemicals into your warm and nutritious food.

It also won’t budge, and won’t topple over. Put the fuel in the fuel chamber and if it’s cold, douse the outside of the entire stove in a few drops and light it. This will reduce cooking time by instantly heating up the metal. The Water Carry has a gusseted bottom, an orange screw lid attached with a plastic strap and some shock cord tied around the neck. The Water Carry comes in four different sizes with options of 0.6 L, 0.9 L, 1.5 L and 2.0 L available. Evernew’s Water Carry is also very lightweight weighing 0.9 oz/26g, 1.0 oz/29 g, 1.3 oz/36 g and 1.5 oz/42 g respectively.

When the Water Carry is full the gusseted bottom provides a base and helps stabilize the bottom. I can sit the Water Carry down and it will stand vertically when on a relatively flat surface. When empty the Water Carry rolls up small and the shock cord wraps around it to keep it at a small volume for easy transport. The outer edges of the Water Carry curve inward midway down which make the bladder graspable with a single hand. Small hands might not be able to do this easily or at all but I love that my hand can fit around it and pick it up even when full.

I love how the lid is attached to the Water Carry. This means I will not take the lid off, set it down on the ground and lose it. This also is very handy because the Water Carry and lid are not separated if I attach a drinking tube and use the Water Carry as my primary hydration bladder. Having the lid attached to the Water Carry also leaves me with two free hands to fill the Water Carry while keeping the lid close by and handy. The plastic strap attaches at the top of the lid in the center. It also attaches to the Water Carry below the screw threads with an oversized circular plastic piece which allows the strap to swivel but not come off.

A small, white dot is printed on the neck of the Water Carry. Instructions from Evernew explain that users need to press this dot when screwing/unscrewing the Water Carry. My wife and I took two 2.0 L and a single 1.5 L Water Carry on an 800-mile section hike of the Appalachian Trail and a few trips in the Wasatch Mountains, the Uintah Mountains and the desert southwest. We used the 2.0 L properly and pressed the dot whenever we screwed/unscrewed the Water Carrys. For the 1.5 L Water Carry I handled it like I would any other bladder but rarely pressed the dot per the manufacturer’s instructions. This resulted in small slits developing at the base of the neck after a month and a half of everyday use. The 1.5 L Water Carry leaked slightly once these developed and was unable to maintain any pressure. What I take from this is a similar lesson with most ultra light gear. I need to treat it with a little extra care and follow the manufacturer’s instruction if I want it to last. The Water Carrys we used properly are still perfectly functional and used on our trips today.

The Evernew Water Carry is a great, lightweight tool for carrying water. It is a well thought out system. Evernew has taken measures to make sure the user does not lose the lid and makes it possible for the Water Carry to remain standing when full of liquid. It also packs down to a small volume when not in use. When used properly, the Water Carry is durable and can easily compete with the competition.
<p style="font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.4em; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; For 6 straight months Skurka skied, trekked, and packrafted 4,700 miles in a giant loop around Alaska and Canada's Yukon. His route passed just beneath Mt. McKinley, descended famed rivers like the Copper and Yukon, and traversed the Brooks Range. During the most remote stretch across the Yukon Arctic and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), he went 650 miles without crossing a road and 24 days without seeing another human. In this presentation Skurka shares this journey's most important and powerful stories, supplemented with stunning photos and entertaining video. He also reflects on the broader significance of this experience and of his other adventures (which cumulatively measure 30,000+ miles), with particular attention to setting goals, seizing opportunities, stepping outside comfort zones, and finding humility and happiness in life. A Q&A session will follow the presentation and an assortment of Skurka's lightweight backpacking gear will be on display.

The Route

The AYE route is inspiringly spectacular. It travels through the heart of six US National Parks (including the Park Service's three largest -- Wrangell-St. Elias, Denali, and Gates of the Arctic) and two Canadian parks. It crosses only eight major roads and once goes 615 miles through completely undeveloped wilderness (no villages, no roads, no pipelines, etc.). It features lengthy traverses of the Alaska Range (home of Mount McKinley) as well as the Brooks Range, arguably the greatest wilderness in the world. It includes long floats on some of North America's wildest rivers, including the Copper, Yukon, Peel, and Kobuk. And it follows two historic routes, the Iditarod Trail and Chilkoot Trail.

Only 10 percent of the AYE route follows manmade throughways like hiking trails, ATV tracks, and vehicle-accessible roads; and about 15 percent of the route follows winter dogsled and snowmobile routes. The bulk of AYE route is organic: there are 1,850 miles of off-trail trekking, 350 miles of off-track skiing, and 1,350 miles on rivers and saltwater bays.

View AYE: Campsites & Resupplies in a larger map

Please go to http://www.andrewskurka.com/index.php for more information.

EVERNEWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17134290420669924270noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848806017709444586.post-82008621397121769202011-04-12T10:42:00.001-07:002011-04-26T16:22:36.021-07:00Athlete Page is updated!Evernew has been supporting Justin "Trauma" Lichter and Dimitri Kieffer for their expeditions.
We recently updated the Athlete page to let everyone know about them.

http://evernewamerica.com/athletes.htm

Please check them out!!

エバニューがサポートするアスリートページを更新しました。
是非ご覧になってください!EVERNEWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17134290420669924270noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848806017709444586.post-48607432680735577112011-03-16T23:00:00.000-07:002011-03-25T18:06:58.727-07:00Earth QuakeEverybody has likely heard about the magnitude 9.0 Earthquake that hit Japan followed by the Tsunami. What you might not have heard is that the Evernew Headquarters building in Tokyo also suffered severe damage as a result. All employees are ok working hard to recover.

With relief supplies pouring in from all over the world, the many NGO and NPOs helping displaced people do not have the man power to sort and deliver the supplies. As a result, the METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry) has identified companies in each industry as agents to help in receiving and distributing relief supplies.

As a designated agent for METI, Evernew is working to accept those items most in need, especially blankets, sleeping bags, tents, food, and other items critical for survival. In order to help facilitate this effort and ensure your donations reach the needy as quickly as possible, we ask that you please observe the following guidelines:

1) All relief supplies be new.
For safety reason, we are not allowed to pass along used supplies that could be damaged or possibly contaminated in order to protect everybody.

2) Please send your donations directly to the Evernew headquarters in Japan:
Please contact:
******************
Takashi Fukuchi
Evernew America
323-266-6212
******************
Evernew HQ has to be prepared for any receiving shipment, so please contact Takashi Fukuchi before sending any supplies to Japan.

3) Each box should contain only one type of item. The effort for customs and Evernew to sort all the generous donations if mixed up in each box would be prohibitive. So, for example, please sort and label your donations like:
Box 1 = Tents
Box 2 = Sleeping Bags
etc

Thank you for your help in this time of need.

Sincerely,

Takashi FukuchiEVERNEWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17134290420669924270noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4848806017709444586.post-28873390277491614532010-10-30T06:00:00.000-07:002010-11-21T20:56:21.071-08:00Hiker Party 2010 in Japan -Sponsored by EVERNEW-

When not hiking, I am a ski patroller and enjoy backcountry skiing, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, and pretty much anything else relaxing. Since 2002, I have hiked over 20,000 miles. In 2002 doing a cross-country map and compass trip through the canyon country of southern utah, in 2003 hiking from Georgia to Cap Gaspe, Quebec following the Appalachian Trail and International AT, 2004 hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada and then the Pacific Northwest Trail to the Washington coast, 2005 the Continental Divide Trail from Mexico to Canada then continuing on the Great Divide Trail from the Canadian border up into northern Alberta, 11/1/05 to 10/23/06 completing the Eastern Continental Trail (cap gaspe, qc to key west, florida, incorporating the AT), Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail in under a year, a total of over 10,000 miles, and in 2007 a traverse of the Southern Alps and the south island of New Zealand.

Here are some of his pictures with EVERNEW GEAR!!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Please contact me if you have any suggestions for next year.

EVERNEWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17134290420669924270noreply@blogger.com0
